Marshall O’Kell

Rock/ mojo-blues and roots. Marshall Okell offers up a deep, raw, honest,
dirty blues sound that grabs you by the throat and then soothes you with a
sweet, honey-tasting musical medicine. With 3 albums released over 10 years, Marshall has spent the majority of his musical career on the road and his continuous string of live performances have crafted him into a rousing, foot-stomping, mojo-bluesman like no other.

His current band of musicians bring with them a blistering level of addictive, heart and mind altering musical energy that leaves you crazy for more.

Mitch King, “Multi Instrumentalist” crowned Winner of the 2016 Tamworth Country Music Festival Busking Championship and voted “Hottest New Act” at St Kilda Festival 2016 , continues to spread his catchy and distinctive sound across Australia.

In 2014 he released his debut Album “A life under the sun” which has been extremely well received and exceeded personal expectations. Don’t miss him!

The Young Murphies

Something magical happened when The Young Murphies joined voices in 2013. Their harmonies wove together like shimmery threads, stopping people in their tracks. Their Country-Folk-Pop fusion is fresh. It’s fun. But at the same time their music reminds you of something old, warm and comfy.

A Young Murphies gig is an invitation to simply revel in the joy of being yourself, straight up, no pretensions here thanks, with lyrics that point straight at those things you thought no-one else could hear you thinking. Sometimes beautiful and tender, sometimes silly, and highly irreverent, even downright rude but always real.

Broadfoot

Bluesy, funky, soulful, rocking, colourful, fun, relaxed and intense are strokes which only begin to sketch the joyously uncategorisable sound of Broadfoot. Festival favourite Broadfoot will unleash the twin genies of dance and delight at the 2016 Ballina Prawn Festival with a heady and ever evolving mix of original material. There is something for everyone at a Broadfoot gig so come along and catch them at the Prawn Fest as the band continues to go from strength to strength, buoyed by their intrinsic love of bringing great live music to every listening ear and underpinned by superb musicianship, intense musical interplay and a crystal spring of stand-out original songs.

Simon Doe

Ballina local Simon Doe graced the buskers stage at the 2015 Ballina Prawn Festival. This year his laid back coastal vibe will be taking on the main stage. Simon Doe is a 26 year old sing/songwriter born in the beaches of Ballina. Simon encompasses the chilled, acoustic good-vibes of the far north coast. While still learning and growing as a musician, exploration is a key element to his style, trying to push the barriers between folk and electronic music. Having just returned from 2 years in Canada where Simon lived off his music, he has come back to his roots to develop his sound. He is currently in the process of recording his first E.P which is very much based around the coastal environment he grew up with. Simon is a local gem and his raw talent is sure to astound!
