The Ballina Prawn Festival has so many things to see and do (which are all FREE by the way!)
but since we can’t name them all, here is our top 5 favourites!

1. MACADAMIA CASTLE FIREWORKS

Don’t miss the fiery festival family finale! The Macadamia Castle Fireworks Spectacular
promises to be the best and most amazing display ever seen in Ballina! Be sure to bring
your picnic rug and get the best seat in the house to enjoy this spectacular entertainment.
Fireworks start at 830pm off Missingham Bridge.

2. FSG SANDCASTLE BUILDING COMPEITITON

The FSG Australia Sandcastle Building Competition is a family favourite at the Ballina Prawn
Festival!  Kids can show off their building and creative skills on the beach of the beautiful
Richmond River (but Mum and Dad can join in too!). Entry to the competition is FREE!

3. BUNNINGS LAS BALSAS RAFT BUILDING COMPETITION AND RACE

Think you’ve got what it takes to build the winning raft and then race it in North Creek? The
heat is on with this adventure filled Bear Grylls style competition. It’s 4 person teams - you
can build as a family and then watch Mum and Dad battle it out on the water! All materials
for raft build will be supplied but bring along your decorations, paint and flags (you can’t be
a pirate without a flag!). Entry is FREE! Make sure you get in quick and register online.
Teams are limited.

4. MACADAMIA CASTLE ANIMAL SHOW AND TRAIN RIDES

Everybody’s favourite animal show is back this year! The fantastic Macadamia Castle Animal
Show will be hosting their highly popular demonstrations throughout the day. These Animal
shows will be very informative, highly entertaining and interactive and we can’t wait! And
don’t be late for the Macadamia Castle Mini Train. Choo choo!  The Macadamia Castle train
leaves from the Main Gate travelling along Kingsford Smith Drive, just out front of the
Festival!

5. BOAT PARADE

Make sure you head over to the water’s edge to honour Remembrance Day and celebrate
the local Prawn Industry! Take in the colour and vibrancy of the Ballina Prawn Festival Boat
Parade! It is such a festival highlight seeing our fishing trawlers, local boats and fleet of
assorted floating craft looking their finest whilst cruising up along our beautiful Richmond
River for your viewing pleasure! And if you have a boat, why not join in? Register on our
website to be included.
